9 Secrets For Building A Powerful Foundation For Living (Part One)
This is a follow up to a blog post I wrote last week. It was about making the shift from a foolish man to a wise man.
I talked about how our foundations are integral to the life experience we have.
Today, I’m gonna share five of the nine secrets that will assist you in building a powerful foundation that can withstand the storms of life.
The great thing here is that we can work on upgrading our foundation at
Our Foundation Isn’t Fixed
These secrets will be a mixture of being and doing. Both aspects are important and require balance. It is very easy to get caught up in one or the other, but for transformation to happen we need both.
Spend your first 30-60 minutes of your day away from Social Media
It’s so easy to get caught up in everyone else’s drama and agenda. When we wake up without centring our self and giving our self space, we enter into a mindset of reaction. By responding to messages, comments and posts, we are giving away our energy, we are reacting to other people’s agendas, without setting our own agenda.
Taking 30-60 minutes a day in the morning for yourself is a powerful habit. It has been a game changer for me. I’m more centred and more peaceful.
Invest some time every day learning and expanding
An old mentor said to me, “You don’t know what you don’t know” and it’s always stuck with me.
Being humble and open to discovering more, to fresh insight, ideas and beliefs, is key to growth.
Read a book , listen to audio books and podcast, watch videos, whatever way you learn best.
It doesn’t need to be a massive investment of time, fifteen to twenty minutes a day.
Take some time to be silent. Practice quieting your mind. Devote some time to stillness
Start with a few minutes a day, in the morning preferably.
For me it creates a calmness. I’m less stressy and emotional. I feel more grounded and centred.
It’s good to get thoughts out of your head onto paper.
I restarted my habit of journaling a couple of months back. I made the commitment to write only one line a day. It’s grown into a twice a day habit.
What can write into your journal?
Here’s some ideas to get you started:
- How you’re thinking and feeling
- Questions you’re pondering and looking for answers to
- Insights you have received
- Gratitude and Appreciation
Journaling is another great way of centring yourself.
Exercise And Nutrition
To me this one is key. It benefits not only your physical health, but your mental and emotional health too.
Whenever I focus on exercise and nutrition I always get a boost to my mental and emotional health. We compartmentalise our body, yet we are one being. Each area affects the others.
The best and biggest insight I can give you here is that it doesn’t need to be complicated and/or stupidly complicated.
Eat real food and move your body.
Eat more fruit and veg. Drink more water. Cut back on sugar and carbs. Go for a morning walk. Do some press ups and crunches. Start small and build.
Part Two Is On Its Way
I’m gonna split this into two parts otherwise it’s gonna be too long.
Five secrets to get your started:
- Your first 30-60 minutes of your day away from Social media
- Invest some time into learning and expanding
- Exercise and Nutrition
See you in part two!
